Chatting / America. The land of freedom and opportunity-OR NOT!!!!

For those of you not in the US, I'm not sure what you've heard about this, or how it'll affect you all.
Yesterday, Wikipedia went down. They were protesting a law that the US Congress is trying to pass. I'm not aware of all the fine points, but the main thing is that it'll allow the government to take any website off the Internet-any one that has copyrighted content on it. That means all the download sites like PirateBay, social sites like Facebook and Twitter, (I've heard possibly part of google even) but most importantly YOUTUBE. If that law gets passed who knows what'll happen to America's (and the world's) favorite video site. It'll most likely get banned. And my life would stop. I'm not really familiar with the Amendments either, but I'm pretty sure that this law will violate part of the 1st Amendment-the freedom of speech and press and whatnot. So what happened to this being the land of the free, if we can't even have some of the most popular websites ever?! I love YouTube, and I don't know who doesn't! I have no idea what I'd do with my ideas then. I can't believe that the US's stupid government would do something like this. It's still in circuit, but it could very much become reality very quickly.
Sometimes, I absolutely HATE the US.
